For more than a decade, Jerome Gorman has been designing and developing web-based applications for biotechnology, heath care, finance, Web 2.0 technologies and e-commerce. Starting in 1999, I have been part of many successful enterprise-level, neurologically-design, web-based applications.

Background
I designed the first corporate web site for Orchid Cellmark (formerly Orchid BioSciences, a spin-off from Sarnoff Corporation) in 1999. After launching Orchid.com, I designed and developed SNPs.com, a comprehensive overview of the hottest area of pharmacogenetics and represented an important and useful tool for SNP researchers and a new way to showcase Orchid’s unique position in this rapidly expanding field. SNPs.com offered dynamic data exchange between our Clinical Genetics Network members in a secure and private multi-center forum. The site was also a portal to several top genomics sites and databases available on the Internet. Both site(s) were launched prior to the company raising 72.5M in a Private Placement, the largest biotech private placement in history. Read Press Release [.pdf] Orchid became publicly traded in May, 2000 and traded on the NASDAQ – ORCH.

While at Orchid, I designed and deployed the first web site established to assist patients needing bone marrow transplants in accessing private donor testing called BoneMarrowTest.com in October, 2000. This web site was during the annual National Marrow Donor Conference in Minneapolis MN. In October, 2001 I lead the development of Autoprimer.com, a web site at which Orchid customers could quickly and easily design robust PCR and extension primers to use with the company’s proprietary SNP-IT™ SNP scoring technology. Autoprimer.com was later sold to Beckman-Coulter and is still in operation today and available at www.autoprimer.com. Over the course of six years I developed Orchid.com, BoneMarrowTest.com, SNPS.com, Autoprimer.com and ChromosomeBrowser.com.

Fascinated with new growth markets in technology, I lead the development of a patent-pending solution for the podcasting industry known as PodshowCreator.com in 2005. This web-based, end to end podcast solution was designed to take an ordinary audio file (.mp3) and by using a systematic method convert the file to a fully-compliant iTunes podcast. Clients included The Travel Channel, Greater Media and XM Satellite Radios’ Musicians Radio. I was responsible for the direction of design, development, marketing and financing for the company.

During the same time, I lead the direction of a family of web sites for Tejas Incorporated of Austin, Texas and also lead the development of the Musicians Radio web site for the launch of their new show on XM Satellite Radio.

In 2007, due to shrinking investment availability and lack of business growth the company closed it’s doors.

Never to be discouraged, I embraced the advent of social marketing and e-commerce driven applications. I applied my expertise to the design, development and marketing of a flagship e-commerce web sites for a local company. They were trying to grow in their visibility and market-share. Working directly with the owners, I worked to create their brand, packaging, labeling, marketing and supporting collateral materials. Less than one year later, the products were rolled-out to more than 2,000 The Home Depot retail locations. In less than a few years the company benefited from three new e-commerce web sites, a properly designed social network presence, custom designed “how-to” videos, the on-boarding of all products to Amazon.com, Grainger.com and HomeDepot.com, a newly designed internal network, and an extensive artwork library.

I have been providing practical design solutions to new business concepts, leveraging technology to create new business and driving bottom line revenue since 1999. Understanding new technologies and their importance of potential power into your business is key. From design and functional requirement specifications to designing a new brand identity, my wealth of knowledge, experience and acumen will speak volumes for your business.
